This week the homework is to select some websites related to my discipline. There are some in english and others in spanish. So let's go:
www.construyendcritica.uchile.cl :
This page was maked by me and a group of colleagues from the faculty, and the purpose is to publicizing our job: a kind of think tank called Centro de Estudios Sociales Construccion Critica. The goal of our think tank is to put the knowledge we learn in our careers in hands of social actors organized in their demands, on the understanding they need technical and methodological support that we can bring to their social struggles. We also have a virtual library, and news about our activities.
www.marxists.org :
This page is about one of the most important authors that should be studied in sociology: Karl Marx. In this website we can found the complete bibliography in digital format, wich is remarkable because it has more than 50 books. Also includes comments and critical studies about the author, which may serve to understand him better.
http://www.faculty.rsu.edu/~felwell/Theorists/Weber/Whome.htm :
This page is similar of marxists.org, but focused in other important author: Max Weber. Due to the thick of his work scattered in some 10 books, this page is is very useful because it defines in a nutshell the outline of his thought, helping to understand the analysis of the founder of modern sociology.
www.wikipedia.org :
It's not a joke. Although it seems frivolous, this site helps to understand certain topics which are very widespread in sociology. Of course, only serves as a reference and we must use it with care, because anyone can put false information.
and finally, www.dialogical.net/socialsciences/index.html :
This page has a useful practice more than anything else, because it allows quickly find links of interest to sociology, and social sciense in general.
Bie!.
