Stratification

The stratification is the social science that is responsible for analysing the diferentation process which result in segmentation and differences between and within societies. A sociologist expert in stratification seeks to determine the reasons and consequences of the existence of social classes, which are becoming increasingly complex by political, economic and cultural processes specific to each country or continent.

Stratification is something I've studied self, but I’ll see it in classes. I am interested in stratification because from the theory that generates as discipline, the sociologists can get ideas for our research and thinking about social conflicts and their solutions. Actually I’m studying theories about classes and segmentation in modern societies and highly complex, and the discussion is divided between those who argue that there are still defined social classes, and those who argue that social classes don’t exist and are diluted in the complexity of the social analysis.

On the other hand these theories suggest a political action aimed at transforming our societies, which relates to the role of my discipline in the country and the continent.

My last weekend!

I have to tell the truth: my last weekend was really boring.
All began on friday afternoon, when I went to college to leave some books at the library. There I found my classmates celebrating a birthday, but with the bad luck that I had to study, so I had to go.
In my house, studing until late at night, I didn't have time to go to a party and I was forced to sleep without leaving with my friends.
But the saturday was worse. When I finished studying excited at the thought of go to a party near to my house, I met with my friends and went tu buy alcohol for the night, but we took an unpleasant surprise when we saw that the party was horrible, boring and with very low attendance of people invited. Nevertheless, we take the beers and went back defeated to our homes (the beers were not bad).
After this failure weekend, I think that the next week I'll go to... buy more beers.

It's not a joke. Although it seems frivolous, this site helps to understand certain topics which are very widespread in sociology. Of course, only serves as a reference and we must use it with care, because anyone can put false information.

This is one of my favorites songs, because I think that Bone Thugs N Harmony have no shame to say in this song (and many others) something very hard to many people: "I smoke weed sometimes, and it's not bad". I don't know why, but I along with many people who smoke weed or haven't problems with people who smoke. However, publicly deny emphatically, for fear of being criticized.
Curiously, in this society the marihuana produces little damage compared to other legal drugs very consumed and promoted on TV, as alcohol. Nearly one thousand people die each year because of alcohol, but nothing die because weed.
The best thing is that you can relax for a while, and then back on your obligations without problems. In this society where everything is fast and stressful, a blunt from time to time can do very well, in any case, always beware of the excesses.

Some words about me

Hi, my name is Sebastian. I like english very much, but I`ve no idea about writing it well. People in my neighborhood call me Osorio, cause there are so many Sebastián`s between my friends.
I study Sociology, and I love it. Most people hate the sociologists because they speak and write with difficult words, and they complicate everything with that. I like the theorys about society, and the practical things that I can do with that. However, the numbers and math-related statistics don't like me.
